DSSC students win in Young Farmers Challenge
BS Agribusiness students of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) Shahzaib Arshad M. Moughal, Celina Fe A. Lanoy and Analie A. Anglacer were declared as provincial winners in the Young Farmers Challenge: Kabataang Agribiz organized by Department of Agriculture.
The team’s agribusiness proposal "Establishment and Marketing of Vermicomposting Project" made it to the regional qualifiers together with other eight entries from Davao del Sur.
The students will receive P50,000 as financial grant assistance for their proposed project. They were given two months to implement their Business Model Canvas (BMC).
The team is assisted by their coaches Dr. Cherry Ann P. Roxas, Mr. Eric Rellon, Mr. Regie Patagoc from the Agribusiness Department of the Institute of Business Education and Governance (IBEG) namely, and Engr. Eric Del Rosario from the Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering Department of Institute of Computing and Engineering and Technology (ICET).
Meanwhile, BS Agribusiness alumnus Wilmar Labanon also qualified to the regionals with his proposal “W.P.L. Okra Farming: Pickled Okra and Green Caviar Cracker with Okra Juice Production."
The Young Farmers Challenge Fund: Kabataang Agribiz Competitive Grant Assistance Program is a competitive financial grant assistance program for the youth who will engage in agri-fishery based enterprises. Six national winners will be declared by the National Panel of Judges as Outstanding Youth Agri-Business Models who will each receive an additional cash prize amounting to P300,000 per enterprise.
