DSSC, DA-RFO XI sign MoA on BREAD Project
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the Upscaling of Bamboo Rural Enterprise and Development (BREAD) Project in Davao del Sur was signed between Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) and Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Office XI (DA-RFO XI) on September 15, 2021 in a virtual signing ceremony.
The MoA was signed between Engr. Ricardo M. Oñate, Jr., Regional Executive Director of DA-RFO XI and Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President.
DA-RFO XI allocated PhP 20,000,000.00 intended for DSSC to implement and operate the said project.
Some of the infrastructure and equipment components of the project are the establishment of Bamboo Hub Processing Building and Training Hall, procurement of bamboo processing equipment, hauling truck, and other equipment and activities as provided in the approved project proposal.
Furthermore, under the MoA, DA-RFO XI is agreed to extend technical services as may be needed by the DSSC relative to project operation in close coordination with the Provincial and Municipal Agriculture’s Office. Meanwhile, DSSC agreed to create technical manpower requirement for the operation of the project, and complete the project within 200 calendar days.
According to Dr. Fuentes, small and medium entrepreneurs engaged in bamboo products development, and farmers in Davao Region particularly in all municipalities and city of Davao del Sur will benefit from the BREAD Project through acquiring knowledge on bamboo and enterprise activities.
Present in the said virtual MoA Signing Ceremony were Rolando Pinsoy, Development Management Officer of Mindanao Development Autority (MinDA); Maria Victor R. Placer, OIC-Provincial Director of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao del Sur Provincial Office; Pablito M. Ofrecia, OIC-Provincial Officer of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)- Davao del Sur Provincial Office; Leah G. Mayol, OIC/Science Research Specialist, Department of Science and Technology (DOST)- Davao del Sur Provincial Office; Ricardo D. Talaboc, CEO of Woodworks Kiln Dried Products; Dr. Graciela L. Caballero, DSSC VP for Academic Affairs; Dr. Luciano N. Nasibog, Jr., DSSC Chief Administrative Officer; and members of the DSSC Executive Committee.
