DSSC benchmarks Radyo Kidlat FM
The Davao del Sur State College Community Radio Station (DSSC CRS) Team visited DXEC 87.9 Radyo Kidlat Dasureco FM station on November 25, 2021 to conduct benchmarking activity.
The DSSC CRS team was headed by Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President together with DSSC CRS personnel Rae Katherine D. Adona, Development Communication (DevComm) Program Head and DSSC CRS Project Leader, Cherry B. Corpin, Station Manager, Carlo Magonalig, Broadcast Traffic Coordinator, Ralph Jake T. Wabingga, Co-Production Head, and Charmie Marie P. Dela Cruz, Procurement Officer. Xiannley Joshua D. Caccam and Virnagen C. Valera, DevComm students also joined the said activity.
Now on its final phase of completion of the radio broadcast facility in the campus, the DSSC CRS team visited the said broadcast facility located at Barangay Cogon, Digos City to explore on practices of the radio station in terms of radio management, production, and operations.
The team was welcomed by Radyo Kidlat Dasureco FM broadcasters Noreen Joy Sumatra-Carcedo and Director Al D. Castillon who shared how the station was established and how it operates to serve their various audiences in the province. Aside from showing various equipment in the DASURECO broadcast facility, Carcedo and Castillon also shared their practices in program execution and promotion of Radyo Kidlat Dasureco FM to the public.
In the radio interview conducted during the visit, Dr. Fuentes expressed her gratitude to Radyo Kidlat Dasureco FM for accommodating the team. She said that the benchmarking activity was helpful in the establishment of the DSSC CRS, a community radio project that would benefit farmers and students.
Funded by the Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Office XI (DA-RFO XI), the establishment of DSSC CRS aims to establish a community broadcast center to serve as an effective communications platform that will promote timely delivery of agricultural information. It also aims to identify and train community core of radio broadcasters that will develop broadcast content that features DSSC’s utilizable knowledge products and technology transfer generated through researches ad DA’s programs, services, and regulatory functions.
