DSSC presents Arabica coffee varietal trial to USDA, ACDI/VOCA




Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) took part in the PhilCAFE coffee farm visit together with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Agricultural Cooperative Development International/Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance (ACDI/VOCA) at the Agro-Forestry and Coffee Training Center & Post-Harvest Facility, Dizon Farms,and Sitio Bacoco, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur on March 29, 2022.


Dr. Graciela L. Caballero, former DSSC Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Project Technical Team Lead presented the evaluation results of the research trial, “Varietal Trial of Different Arabica Coffee Varieties in Mt. Apo Highland”. She highlighted that nine short varieties and nine tall varieties of Arabica coffee are suitable in Mt. Apo Highland.


Meanwhile, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President participated in the Ceremonial Planting with Morgan Haas, Agricultural Counselor and Victoria Becker, International Program Specialist at USDA and other personnel from ACDI/VOCA, World Coffee Research, and Department of Agriculture- Regional Office XI at Balutakay, Bansalan, Davao del Sur
