DSSC establishes partnership with Obihiro University


Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) and the National Research Center for Protozoan Disease NRCPD of Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (NRCPD-OUAVM) in Japan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic and research collaboration on June 27, 2022 at the Conference Hall of DSSC.


Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President and Dr. Xuenan Xuan, Professor of NRCPD-OUAVM signed the said MoU that primarily aims to foster specific, mutually beneficial educational and research linkages and collaboration.


Dr. Florencia G. Claveria, Professor from De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila and Dr. Mark Jude F. Trondillo, Directore of the Office of the Research, Development, and Extension (ORDE) of the college were also signatories,


The MoU stated that DSSC and NRCPD-OUAVM agree to collaborate research undertaking on protozoan diseases in Mindanao, Philippines and Japan; exchange academic staff and students between institutions; and share technical expertise between institutions, among others.


Dr. Xuan, Dr. Fuentes, and other academic and administrative personnel of the college conducted a Round Table Discussion about the NRCPD's vision, mission, structure, and research engagements of NRCPD.


Meanwhile, Prof. Eloiza May Galon, an Obihiro University Ph.D. student, made a visit to the DSSC Science Laboratory. While Dr. Fuentes, along with Dr. Xuan and Dr. Claveria visited the college Coffee Cupping Laboratory and the Smart Agri Radio.


This endeavor kicked-off the goal of broadening international partnerships and providing an avenue in making more opportunities for research, and training. (Shawn Medina/DSSC-PAO)
