DSSC welcomes ACDI/VOCA

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) took part in the Agricultural Cooperative Development International/Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance (ACDI/VOCA) USA Headquarters visit on September 12, 2022, at the Agro-Forestry and Coffee Training Center & Post-Harvest Facility, Dizon Farms, Sitio Bacoco, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur.

The DSSC Team led by Dr. Graciela L. Caballero, Personnel/Extension M&E Specialist, presented the Coffee for LIFE Project Status and results of the research titled, “Varietal Trial of Different Arabica Coffee Varieties in Mt. Apo Highland” including the Cup Quality of the Tall Varieties.

Sylvia Megret, President and CEO; T.J. Ryan, Chief of Party; Thelonious Trimmell, Cooperative Development Program Manager; and other personnel from ACDI/VOCA were present during the visit. Also present were Dr. Luz Stella Artajo Medina and Newerley Gutierrez, both consultants and volunteers from Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) who gave feedback on the presentations to which the DSSC team was able to cater.

On the other hand, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President shared the vision of the College as a stakeplayer on how to boost and support further the coffee industry in the province. Finally, Sylvia Megret expresses her gratitude to DSSC for its constant collaboration with ACDI/VOCA on the research and extension works. (Pia Cabarrubias)
