DSSC celebrates CSC Anniversary, Family Day

 

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) celebrated the 122nd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary and DSSC Family Day on September 29-30, 2022, at Florenda Beach Resort, Catagman, Samal District Island Garden City of Samal.

 

With the theme “Gawing Lingkod Bayani ang Bawat Kawani,” DSSC organized the said activities with the aims of improving performance and fosters a culture of mutual respect, as the college grows in aptitude, and inspires employees to perform better in its areas of responsibility.

 

More than 180 personnel of the college were present in the celebration which was observed by DSSC annually.

 

Kicking off the celebration on September 29, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President, welcomed all the personnel, as well as Director Richard T. Ortiz of Civil Service Commission (CSC) Field Office of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental.

 

Director Ortiz emphasized the important role of public servants to nation building.

 

 "By conceiving of heroism as a universal attribute of human nature, and by not concluding that it is a rare feature possessed by a few as though it is a genetic predisposition, heroism therefore becomes something that is within the range of possibilities for every person, hence, serving as an inspiration to us to answer that call, particularly because we move within the realm of public service where opportunities for manifesting heroic acts present themselves so often," Ortiz added.

 

An Oath Taking Ceremony for newly hired employees was also administered. There were 21 newly-hired employees took the oath witnessed by the rest of the DSSC personnel and officiated by Fuentes.

 

Fuentes also led the recognition of college personnel through the DSSC-CSC Parangal. The following offices, projects, and personnel were recognized:

  • DSSC ICTC Office- Most Proactive and Innovative Unit
  • Scholarship Office- Most Client-Friendly Unit
  • DSSC Medical and Dental Clinic- Quick-COVID-19 Response Unit
  • Agri-business Department- External Academic Participation Award;
  • “Gender-Based Involvement in the Management of Marine Protected Areas in Davao del Sur project- Outstanding Research Project Team
  • “Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture Project”- Outstanding Research Project Team
  • Juan P. Agudera, Jr.- Revenue-Generating Project
  • Graciela L. Caballero- Highly-Funded Proposals Award
  • Della Grace Bacaltos- Globally-linked Award
  • James Vagilidad- Aksyon Agad Award
  • Mary Rose Linamas- Outstanding Admin Staff

DSSC Employees’ Association (DSSCEA) also received its Certificate of Accreditation from the CSC.

 

In the afternoon, DSSC held its Symposia on Nutrition for Diabetes and Cyberbullying facilitated by Ms. Aida Brillante and PEMS Dominador Votor Jr. respectively.

 

After the learnings sessions, a Thanksgiving Mass followed officiated by Rev. Fr. Ricky Piñalosa, DCD.

 

The Fellowship Night highlighted the skills and talents of DSSC personnel who were divided into five teams, namely: Blue Phoenix; Green Hornets; Maroon Dragons; White Unicorn; and Yellow Panther.

The night was highlighted with Ms. Q&A 2022 where Mitzi Darryl M. Baba of Blue Phoenix winning the title.

 

On the second day, all team members participated in various competitions such as the Zumba Fest and Laro ng Lahi, which includes Tug of War; Bucag Basketball; and the Volleypool.

 

The Maroon Dragons won as the Grand Champion followed by Yellow Panthers and Blue Phoenix as first and second runner-up respectively. (Shawn Medina/DSSC-PAO)
