DSSC fosters internationalization on virtual entrepreneurship Hackathon kickoff

 

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) participated in the ASEAN Virtual Entrepreneurship Hackathon opening ceremony on October 10, 2022.

 

With the theme “Sustainable Development in the New Normal” the Passage to ASEAN (P2A) hosted by Duy Tan University, Temasek Polytechnic and Universitas Islam Indonesia, in partnership with Malaysia Triz, Bukidnon State University, Davao del Norte State College, Saint Mary’s University, Tarlac Agricultural University and Davao del Sur State College, aims to facilitate design thinking, transfer knowledge and skills, and present innovations to address sustainable development goals (SDGs) among student-participants.

 

More than 110 delegates from different members of the ASEAN community attended the virtual event inception.

 

Kicking off the launch, Dr. Wiryono Raharjo, P2A Directorate for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Vice Rector for Partnership and Entrepreneurship at Universitas Islam Indonesia gave his opening remarks.

 

Meanwhile, respective university leaders from the different higher education institution-partners, including Dr. Augie E. Fuentes (DSSC), Lauralee B. Cabacungan (BUKSU), Clara Gonzales (SMU), Dr. Max Guillermo (TAU), Dr. Joy Sorrosa (DNSC), Lim Teng Leng (TP), Anand Nayyar (DTU), and Eng Hoo from Malaysia and SEA TRIZ, welcomed all attendees of the event.

 

Dr. Risdiyono of the Universitas Islam Indonesia emphasized that problems trigger innovations.

 

“Creativity means finding that solution and adapting it to the current problem,” Risdiyono added.

 

Preliminary lectures on Design Thinking: Empathize and Define and Design Thinking II: Ideation with TRIZ were given, with emphasis on Inventive-Problem Solving Workshop.

 

The kickoff concluded with high hopes of ultimate participation from student-participants who are set to present inventive-problem solving ideas for sustainable development goals (SDGs). (Ana Marie J. Matalines/DSSC-P2A Coordinator)
