Fuentes fully supports for DSSC universityhood
In pursuit of universityhood, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) President attended the Committee on Higher and Technical Education (CHTE) 16th Regular Committee Meeting on March 13, 2023, via Zoom and Hybrid Set-Up for the deliberation of House Bill No. 7141, An Act Converting DSSC into a State University to be known as the Davao del Sur State University filed by Congressman John Tracy F. Cagas.
Congressman Cagas of the Lone District of Davao del Sur filed the bill with a vision that the campus will meet the demand for accessible quality education not only in the province of Davao del Sur but in the nearby provinces as well.
The college offered various undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, forestry, agricultural engineering, education, public administration, information technology, and developmental studies.
Fuentes presented to the committee the DSSC roadmap to university-hood which evolves around the institution’s four core functions, particularly quality instruction, relevant quality research and innovations, holistic extension program, and efficient, effective and equitable governance.
Meanwhile, after thorough deliberation, CHTE Chairperson Rep. Mark O. Go of the Lone District of Baguio City approved with no objection, the motion of Rep. Joseph Gilbert F. Violago, District Representative of Nueva Ecija, 2nd District, the approval of House Bill No. 7141.
Also present in the meeting were Dr. Siverlyn M. Camposano, Vice-President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Luciano D. Nasibog, Vice-President for Admin and Finance; Dr. Mark Jude F. Trondillo, Director for Research, Development, and Innovation; Dr. Jeric Anthony Arnado, Director for Student Affairs and Services; Dr. Felomino Alba, ICTC Director; and the Deans and Unit Heads of the college.
