DSSC youth attends
Youth Educational Peace Forum
In engaging in the discussion of peacebuilding in the nation and strengthening the sense of responsibility among youth across sectors in the province, Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), different colleges, and youth organizations joined Youth Educational Peace Forum on May 20-21, 2023 at Arnaldo’s Hotel, Digos City.
College President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, sat and gave a message as one of the reactors during the Ka-PEACE: Town Hall Discussion – after the session led by Jericho Emphasis, President of YFP Davao Chapter and Philippine representative at the 2023 ASEAN Summit, on ASEAN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions and SDG #17: Partnership – telling the attendees the importance of establishing linkages, achieving goals, and supporting continuous community developments.
Furthermore, a discussion led by Eric O. Marteja, JD., Administrative Office IV of NCIP Davao del Sur, highlighted the importance of cultural sensitivity, understanding, and awareness. Matters concerning terrorism were also tackled during the session. Youth delegates were reminded of their role in nation-building and the importance of participating in such discussions.
The forum was organized as a part of the commemoration of Davao del Sur, earning an “insurgency-free” province status. The event was facilitated by the Youth for Peace Movement- Davao del Sur chapter (YFPM-DavSur) with the help of the Office of the Provincial Governor, Provincial Welfare and Development Office, and 1002nd BAGWIS Brigade.
In attendance during the event were Jhon Kenan A. Baran representing Davao del Sur Youth Development Council (DYSDC); Reyjeff Malajos representing the United League of Education Students (ULES); Raf Marthy Puerto and Cydeah Aldic Conchas representing Supreme Student Council (SSC); and Eric Lamostre representing Agri-Business Department.
