DSSC FACILITATES DAASI's PLANNING
WORKSHOP AND QUARTERLY MEETING
The Deans Association of Agriculture Schools Inc. (DAASI) conducted the Planning Workshop and Quarterly Meeting, at Elmer’s Haven Resort and BethyFul Place, Kapatagan, Digos City. The activity was facilitated by Davao Del Sur State College (DSSC) last December 6-7, 2023.
The DAASI President, Dr. Anastacia Notarte acknowledged the council members who were present. It comprises the different SUC’s in Davao Region, DORSU, USEP, DSSC, JMCFI, RMC, MonCAST, SICC, SPAMAST, KCAST, DDOSC as well as CHED-RO XI Dr. Lourdes Cesar, DA-RFO XI, Chief Operation Division Mary Ann Constantino and PCA Manager Judy Alayon. In response, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, DSSC President gives its welcome message to the participants on behalf of Dr. Siverlyn Camposano.
In the event, DA RFO XI discussed and highlighted the different programs such as Rice, Corn, High-Value Crops Development, Livestock, Organic Agriculture, and other initiatives and interventions that can be requested through machinery, equipment, production and processing facilities, and irrigation projects.
Furthermore, PCA XI discussed the Scholarship Programs, programs and intervention for coconut farmers. It was a fruitful discussion as the participants also shared the challenges faced by coconut farmers and look forward to interventions in the future.
The Planning Workshop was spearheaded by Dr. Notarte, as they drafted association’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives. The participants contributed to the plans and discussed the guidelines for Internship Abroad, Institutional Membership, Updates, and other matters.
On the second day, the field tour was led by DSSC Faculty. Participants toured around the Lettuce Farm and Apple Farm owned and operated by DSSC Alumnus Joemary Villanueva and Benzone Sepe.
To end the day, the participants also visited the DSSC Coffee Research Area, Animal Project, and Bamboo Processing Hub.
