DSSC TASDO Hosts Successful Workshop on Gender-Sensitive Research Proposals
The Training and Skills Development Office (TASDO) has successfully conducted the HAGADAGA and SECCI scoring system workshop aimed at enhancing faculty researchers' abilities to develop gender-sensitive proposals aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This two-day event was held at Benrose Park in Kapatagan, Digos City. The workshop was participated by the selected faculty members and institute deans, fostering a collaborative and insightful environment.
Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, College President, graced the event with her presence, underscoring the importance of integrating gender and development into daily operations. In her message, Dr. Fuentes emphasized the crucial role of gender sensitivity in research, stating, "We have to embrace gender and development which should be integrated into our day-to-day operations. I understand many of our proponents could hardly integrate a gender lens in their proposals. But I challenge you all to be sensitive to these issues and be an instrument to raise awareness to everyone."
The workshop, spearheaded by Maam Cecile Lofranco, the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person, featured comprehensive discussions and practical exercises designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to incorporate gender perspectives in their research proposals. Maam Lofranco led the discussions with a focus on practical application, ensuring that the faculty members could directly apply what they learned to their ongoing and future projects.
Participants were engaged in various activities that highlighted the importance of gender-sensitive research and its alignment with the SDGs. The HAGADAGA and SECCI scoring systems were introduced as essential tools for evaluating proposals, providing a structured approach to ensure that gender considerations are adequately addressed.
The success of this event marks a significant step forward in the institution's ongoing efforts to integrate gender and development into its core activities, setting a precedent for future initiatives aimed at fostering inclusivity and social responsibility in the entire college.
