DSSC Joins "57 Trees, 57 Years" for Davao del Sur's 57th Founding Anniversary
“Ang Legasiya nagpabing buhi ug malig-on alang sa maanyag nga Probinsya ug tanang madasigon nga Davsuranon” – Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) proudly participated in the "57 Trees, 57 Years: A Tree Planting and Growing Activity" on June 21, 2024. This event was organized as part of the Province of Davao del Sur's 57th Founding Anniversary celebrations and took place in the 20-hectare Provincial Tree Park in Barangay Saub, Matanao, coinciding with Environment Month.
The activity began at 6:00 AM with participants, including DSSC officials and staff, local government offices, and community members, embarking on a scenic three-kilometer walk from Saub Barangay site to the planting area. The effort extended to Holyland, Managa, Bansalan, where additional planting activities took place. An initial site profiling and assessment of the Tree Park was also conducted by technical personnel with the assistance of some college personnel, to document the flora and fauna present, which will be crucial in formulating the Tree Park Management Plan. The event, marked by the planting of native and fruit trees, symbolized the community’s commitment to a greener future and laid a strong foundation for continued environmental stewardship.
Led by DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Siverlyn M. Camposano, Dr. Graciela L. Caballero, and other college personnel, the DSSC team joined SAPG Marc Cagas and his team in this significant environmental initiative. |
