Davao del Sur State College employees commemorated the 124th Civil Service Anniversary with a vibrant celebration focused on the theme: “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes” on September 27, 2024, at 3LS Beach Resort, Coronon, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. The celebration commenced with a welcome address from Dr. Luciano Nasibog Jr., the DSSC Vice President for Admin and Finance, followed by a message from Mr. Richard Ortiz, the Provincial Civil Service Director for both Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental. He shared his experiences as a public servant, highlighting the importance of perseverance, resilience, and leadership in transforming public servants into unstoppable heroes. Subsequently, DSSC College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes delivered a message emphasizing the transformative journey of the college. She focused on DSSC's accomplishments over the past four years and outlined future plans. This event also marked the beginning of Dr. Fuentes’ second term as President. Her leadership has driven the college toward remarkable achievements, progressing from its humble beginnings to its goal of attaining university status. To strengthen the unity of the DSSC family, the highlight of the celebration was a thought-provoking talk on the essential qualities of a servant hero by Dr. Maria Paz Dabon, PA, DMHRM. She emphasized the importance of service, accountability, and teamwork. Dr. Paz also expressed her appreciation for Dr. Fuentes’ leadership and unwavering commitment to the college. The college addressed the crucial topic of mental health awareness, recognizing the well-being of its employees as paramount. A mental wellness talk focused on managing stress in the workplace was provided by the Health Service Center at Eastern Mindanao Camp Panacan Station Hospital. In the latter part of the program, to foster teamwork and camaraderie, DSSC organized the DASIG UG UGNAT, engaging employees in team sports activities that promoted collaboration and healthy competition. The participants were divided into five teams: Reef Rangers, Sand Sultans, Shore Commanders, Wave Royals, and Beach Gypsies. The teams actively participated in cheers and yells, ping pong relay, helium hoop, and blanket volleyball. The celebration culminated in a heartwarming solidarity night, providing an opportunity for the DSSC community to come together and celebrate their shared values and commitment to public service. The event featured a series of insightful sessions and activities designed to inspire and empower civil servants.
