DSSC Hosts Successful Field Verification on Liquid Beauveria bassiana for Sustainable Pest Management

 

 

Magsaysay, Davao del Sur – The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) successfully conducted a Field Day Verification on October 11, 2024, to demonstrate the effectiveness of Liquid Beauveria bassiana (LBb) in managing insect pests of rice. The event, held in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur, aimed to promote sustainable pest management practices and highlight LBb as an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical pesticides.

 

The verification drew participation from faculty members of DSSC’s Institute of Agriculture and Related Sciences (IARS), Crop Protection students, local rice farmers, and representatives from the Department of Agriculture Region XI’s Regional Crop Protection Center, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG), and the Municipal Agriculturist Office (MAO) of Magsaysay.

 

DSSC President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, PhD, welcomed the participants and reaffirmed her support for the college’s Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) program. Dr. Fuentes, a former RDE Director, emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing the college’s mission to foster sustainable agricultural practices.

 

The Field Day showcased the effectiveness of LBb in significantly reducing pest populations, reinforcing its role in promoting sustainable rice farming across Davao del Sur.
