The Wellness, Technology, Health, & Care Research Center (WellTecHCare RC) conducted a validation through focus group discussion with the recipients of its projects, Aging Population in Davao del Sur (APoDS): Health Risk Assessment and Associations of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) with Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviors, and Kahimsog sa Panglawas: Sulundon ni Lolo ug Lola (KaPSuLL), an extension program for the elderly, on August 4, 2025 at Barangay Bato, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur. This validation activity was conducted by the research center to gather valuable insights, experiences, and recommendations from the community on the programs. This would also help the center as it plans for research-to-extension and research-to-policy programs, where research is hoped to readily be used as a tool in health promotion and disease prevention. Both KaPSuLL and APoDS projects serve as pilot research and extension programs made possible through the active participation of its partners—the Barangay Local Government Unit of Barangay Bato in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, through the leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Joseph P. Rebuyon—and its Health Center, especially their head, Ms. Janice D. Orpilla, and the Senior Citizen's Association. The validation activity is aligned with the Quality Policy of Davao del Sur State College commitments in relevant research and meaningful community extension. The validation team, headed by its Research Center Head, Instructor Jerome Ferdinand O. Balaga, was accompanied by the project team members, Assistant Professor Jayson R. Pucot, MSc., Assistant Professor Jeric Anthony S. Arnado, Ph.D., and Instructor Christine May T. Mangubat, LPT, MAED. This activity was supported by the Research, Development, & Innovation Office through its Director, Associate Professor Cherry Ann P. Roxas, Ph.D. #OneDSSC #DSSC #DavaoDelSurStateCollege #ShapingFuturesBeyondBorders
