Davao del Sur State College conducted a benchmarking visit at the University of the Immaculate Conception Bonifacio Campus on November 16, 2025. The visit formed part of the College’s preparation for the possible implementation of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).
The DSSC team assessed the way UIC handles its ETEEAP offering throughout their visit. Among the topics discussed were program administration, accreditation criteria, and documentation processes, and from these discussions, the team will come up with a framework that adheres to the national guidelines and the College’s academic standards using the gathered information as reference.
The activity was led by Dr. Amelie E. Trinidad, Director for Instruction, with the participation of Carl Wayne Villarta, General Education Chairperson, and Nilo Aljun, faculty member of the College of Business, Education, and Governance. Their involvement focused on understanding operational practices that may be adapted to the College’s context.
ETEEAP provides an alternative route for adult learners and professionals to earn academic degrees through the assessment of prior learning and work experience. The benchmarking activity allowed DSSC to examine existing practices and identify requirements necessary for a structured and credible program offering.
The activity supports the goals of Quality Education (SDG 4) and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8). By exploring pathways for recognizing prior learning, DSSC contributes to efforts that widen access to higher education and support lifelong learning.
