The Institute of Mathematics, Arts, and Sciences comprises faculty members who handle the general education courses of the college. The expertise of the institute cover the natural and social sciences, mathematics, as well as the arts and humanities.

Institute Objectives

Goal 1 . To provide quality curricular and co-curricular programs and service courses in the arts , humanities, mathematics, and sciences

            Objective 1.  New/revised program changes successfully envisioned

            Objective 2.  Adequate resources available for program improvements

Goal 2 . To hone students who are skilled, globally competent, culturally sensitive, socially responsible and humanistic professionals.

            Objective 1.  Faculty utilize their expertise to prepare students for professional   practice.

            Objective 2.  Lecture/assessment that reflects multiple learning styles.

Goal 3 . To contribute the body of knowledge through innovative research, publication and extension activities that are  responsive to the needs of the stakeholders.

           Objective 1.  Individual pursue necessary  knowledge to support their scholarly   endeavors

           Objective 2.  The institute supports quality mentoring and collaborative relationships   for scholarly career development.

Goal 4 . To strengthen linkages, collaboration, and partnership with other institutions or organizations of higher learning.

           Objective 1.  The institute submit at least ONE internal or external funding   research/project in collaboration with other institution each year.

 

Institute Research Agenda

With the research agenda of Davao del Sur State College coined as HEEALS (Health and Wellness, , Environmental Management and Climate Change Adaptation, Education and Human Resource Development ,Agriculture, Forestry, & Natural Resources, Livelihood and Business as well as Social and Cultural Development) as guide, the Institute of Mathematics, Arts and Sciences will focus research and extension activities to the following topics:

Mandate

The mandate of the College is to provide advance instruction and professional training in education, agriculture, science, engineering and technology, agribusiness, information technology and other related fields of study. To support the socioeconomic development of Davao del Sur and Davao Region, it shall undertake relevant and responsive research, extension and production and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization (R.A. 11220).
