DSSC scribe inks online press con, advanced to finals
Among 29 campus journalists from different regions of the Philippines, DSSC publication staffer claimed her ticket to the finals passing the standards of various judges from PhilStar and ABS-CBN.
Carolyn Rama Monton, a 3rd year Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering student, and the current Associate Editor of DSSC Publication ranked 6th during the elimination round of Pagsulat ng Balita on the online wricon initiated by The News Section (TNS), September 25, 2020.
Before the actual competition, Monton also attended lecture webinar with PhilStar content producer Mr. James Relativo who is also one of the judges.
"Joining online press conference is a gateway to continue my passion in writing news by indulging into online writing competition since there is no higher education press con in the region," she said.
She also added that despite having academic responsibilities, she never hesitated to grab the opportunity to join and improve her skills especially that journalism has been her thing during high school.
Aside from spearheading online writing competitions, TNS was also founded to hone the skills of aspiring journalist, most specifically News Writers in the country, through posting and doing live videos for talk and lectures.
The said page was founded by Bea Jane Serna, a journalist from Surigao City, CARAGA Region, with mentors coming from various regions in the Philippines.
