Municipality of Almeria Partners with DSSC to Adopt e-HRIMS for HR Digitalization

The Municipality of Almeria, Biliran, formally entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) on September 13, 2024, at Annex Hall 2/F Almeria Municipal Building, Almeria, Biliran, to adopt the college’s Electronic Human Resource Management Information System (e-HRIMS). The request for this collaboration came from the Municipality of Almeria, which sought DSSC’s expertise in addressing its digitalization needs.

The BJMP, Digos City District male Jail, headed by JO2 Cherry Mae G Rivera, Jail Library in-charge, and JSUPT Len John R Bernal invited DSSC librarians to be the resource speakers to conduct an orientation on how to set up a small library and an overview at the BJMP Digos District Male Jail, Digos City. The Bureau is looking forward to a sustainable education of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) in all jails of BJMPRO XI, the practice and adaptation of jail library activities to promote PDL autonomy, and the development of critical decision-making skills in PDL. DSSC co-authors Internationally-indexed publication

The College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, IARS-Faculty Prof. Sherry Mae E. Roy, and Dr. Irma Tandingan De Ley, a DOST-Balik Scientist Program grantee, have recently achieved a significant milestone with the publication of their latest research paper in the prestigious Scopus-indexed journal, Biodiversity Data Journal. Their collaborative study, titled "First Records of the Cosmopolitan Terrestrial Slug, Deroceras leave (O.F. The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) successfully held its Summer Internship Culmination for students from the BSAF, BSIT, BSABE, BSDC, and BSAB programs from June to August 2024. This was the first time the DSSC-BSAB program sent interns outside Davao del Sur to places like Tagum, Panabo, Tupi, General Santos City, and Kabacan.

DSSC LOGO HAS BEEN GRANTED TRADEMARK REGISTRATION

The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) logo has been granted trademark registration with number 4/2023/00508395 by the Intellectual Property Office of The Philippines (IPOPHIL) last August 19, 2023. As such, the DSSC Research and Innovation Office underscores that the utilization of the DSSC logo for commercial or personal purposes without prior authorization is absolutely prohibited. To protect the brand identity and exclusive rights, the institution must grant prior permission or license for any commercial or personal use of the logo. The purpose of this approach is to ensure protection against unauthorized use or commercial exploitation of the logo.

Davao del Sur State College names Dr. Cherry Ann P. Roxas as Director for Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI)

Dr. Roxas has an extensive academic background and has held several key positions in the educational sector. She served as the Dean of the Institute of Business Education and Governance, where she led the implementation of innovative teaching strategies and curriculum development initiatives. Dr. Roxas also served as the Director for Instruction, overseeing the delivery of quality education to students across all levels. With her vast experience and expertise, Dr. Roxas was appointed as the new Director for RDI, where she will be responsible for the development and implementation of research and development initiatives. Her leadership and guidance will be crucial in advancing research and development in the organization, and she is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the role.

The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) under the leadership of College President, Dr. Augie E. The DSSC is committed to produce quality and relevant collaborative researches that anchored on international and national research agenda. The DSSC adheres to creating for food security that benefit its clientele and community, developing breakthrough research that generates income by improving the different sectors, providing sustainable results to increasing concerns on climate change and bio-cultural diversity preservation, research output and technology adoption created, and enables researchers to collaborate with national and international research program and projects. Vaccination rollout starts at DSSC

More than 100 students from Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) received their first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on November 2, 2021 at DSSC Gymnasium in line with Sama-Samang Vaccination Program for Tertiary Students in Davao Region. The said Vaccination Program is an inoculation program initiated by Commission on Higher Education-Region Office XI (CHED-XI) in partnership with Department of Health- Region XI (DOH-XI). During her visit to DSSC, Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, CHED-XI Regional Director said that this vaccination drive aims to convince students to get vaccinated against COVID-19. She added that it is better if more students be vaccinated to prepare them in case the limited face-to-face classes will commence. Among the students who received the first dose is Alyssa Manulad, 20, and a 2nd year Education student of DSSC. “I was never hesitant to be vaccinated because I know that vaccines are effective. I want to be vaccinated in preparation for the face-to-face classes,” Manulad said.
