DSSC Discusses Business Collaboration and Soft Power Diplomacy with Indonesian Consulate

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) and the Consulate General of Indonesia in Davao City held a business collaboration meeting in the morning of March 18, 2025. DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes welcomed the guests, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in economic and academic growth and expressing her desire for a more collaborative opportunities with the institution’s partners in Bali, Indonesia. Indonesian Consul for Economic Affairs, Novita S.D. Supit, also gave a message before discussions formally began. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation, particularly in bamboo enterprise development. With DSSC’s e-Bamboo Hub leading local innovations, both parties discussed possible knowledge-sharing initiatives and market linkages.

DSSC’s Libreng Kape at Tinapay sa Eskwelahan: A Boost for Students During Exam Season

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) initiated a supportive offering through "Libreng Kape at Tinapay sa Eskwelahan" from the Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) to give students relief during the examinations. Through this initiative, OSAS provides students with free coffee, bread, and other foodstuffs as part of their effort to create brief periods of rest and resourceful energy during exam times. DSSC realizes students have difficult exam times so they launch this support effort to provide both enhanced mental energy and improved emotional well-being for studying during tests.

Davao del Sur State College Executive Committee recently conducted its First Quarter Pre-Board Review Meeting on March 13, 2024 at DSSC Board Room. The meeting's main agenda encompassed key institutional priorities, including internationalization efforts, financial and administrative matters, academic concerns, policy development, and strategic initiatives. Discussions also focused on the establishment of new centers, the review of institutional policies, and future staffing plans to support the institution's growth and development.

Aligning Environmental Conservation, Cultural Preservation, and Local Economic Development: A Site Visit to the RCIC

On March 14th 2025 the Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) and Museum of Davao del Sur State College received multiple visitors from a significant event under the Community-Based Tourism Marketing Enhancement Program. Representatives from the Department of Tourism Region XI (DOTXI), a media team from Manila, influencers, tour operators, and Tourism Promotions Board attended the visit which demonstrated how environmental conservation joins forces with cultural preservation to promote local economic development. The combined support from the Provincial Tourism Office of Davao del Sur and the Culture, Arts, Heritage, Research and Development Center of Davao del Sur State College emphasized the role sustainable tourism plays in promoting community development alongside cultural and natural preservation of the province.

DSSC Adheres to PCO-Memorandum Circular No. 24-004

In adherence to the directive outlined in the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Memorandum Circular No. 24-004, mandating the translation of the one-page Freedom of Information (FOI) Manual into Filipino, in compliance with Executive Order No. 335, s. 1988, which promotes the use of the Filipino language in government transactions, and Executive Order No. 2, s. 2016, which operationalizes the People’s Constitutional Right to Information, DSSC has initiated the necessary steps to translate its FOI manual accordingly. By adhering to the PCO’s guidelines, the college ensures that its FOI process is accessible and understandable to the public, further promoting openness and responsiveness in public service.

DSSC LOGO HAS BEEN GRANTED TRADEMARK REGISTRATION

The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) logo has been granted trademark registration with number 4/2023/00508395 by the Intellectual Property Office of The Philippines (IPOPHIL) last August 19, 2023. As such, the DSSC Research and Innovation Office underscores that the utilization of the DSSC logo for commercial or personal purposes without prior authorization is absolutely prohibited. To protect the brand identity and exclusive rights, the institution must grant prior permission or license for any commercial or personal use of the logo. The purpose of this approach is to ensure protection against unauthorized use or commercial exploitation of the logo.

Davao del Sur State College names Dr. Cherry Ann P. Roxas as Director for Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI)

Dr. Roxas has an extensive academic background and has held several key positions in the educational sector. She served as the Dean of the Institute of Business Education and Governance, where she led the implementation of innovative teaching strategies and curriculum development initiatives. Dr. Roxas also served as the Director for Instruction, overseeing the delivery of quality education to students across all levels. With her vast experience and expertise, Dr. Roxas was appointed as the new Director for RDI, where she will be responsible for the development and implementation of research and development initiatives. Her leadership and guidance will be crucial in advancing research and development in the organization, and she is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the role.

1st International Research Conference on Business, Education, Technology and Agriculture

The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) under the leadership of College President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes envisioned as one of the leading higher education institutions that creates cutting-edge and internationally accepted researches. The DSSC is committed to produce quality and relevant collaborative researches that anchored on international and national research agenda. The DSSC adheres to creating for food security that benefit its clientele and community, developing breakthrough research that generates income by improving the different sectors, providing sustainable results to increasing concerns on climate change and bio-cultural diversity preservation, research output and technology adoption created, and enables researchers to collaborate with national and international research program and projects. The DSSC research agenda initiated the priority plans and programs that serve as strategic goals in addressing challenges in innovation, food productivity, and efficiency, disaster risks resiliency and climate change readiness, gender inequality, and breakthrough technology adoption. The College recognized the adoption of the UNESCO SETI Scorecard for monitoring and implementation of SDG in Davao del Sur and Davao Region. The DSSC created research centers to specifically develop proposals and specialized expertise in lobbying higher budget allocation for research, development, innovation, and progressing infrastructure plans of the College for a specific sector.
