Davao del Sur State College held the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for its extension projects on January 26, 2025 at the DSSC Gymnasium. The activity formalized partnerships between College project leaders and several government agencies and community organizations that will work together on extension initiatives across the province.
The partner agencies include the Department of Agriculture, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology male and female dormitories, the Barangay Local Government Unit of Colorado, the Provincial Anti Drug Abuse Council, the Department of Health Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, the Department of Education Digos City, the Department of Education Davao del Sur, the Malalag Mango Farmers Association, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, the Local Government Unit of Kiblawan, and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.
The Memorandum of Agreement covers eight primary programs composed of several projects. These projects include studies on regenerative agricultural systems, the use of technology in farming, mangrove forest protection, livestock production, and agricultural technology development. Other components focus on life skills training for persons deprived of liberty, community disaster response planning, educational support programs, and leadership training for indigenous communities.
The initiatives are expected to benefit farmers, teachers, students, coastal communities, indigenous peoples, barangay leaders, and other groups in Davao del Sur. Through these projects, the College strengthens its extension work by addressing agriculture, education, environment, livelihood, and community development concerns through coordinated efforts with its partners.
The programs assist multiple Sustainable Development Goals which include SDG 1 for No Poverty, SDG 2 for Zero Hunger, SDG 4 for Quality Education, SDG 8 for Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 11 for Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13 for Climate Action, SDG 14 for Life Below Water, SDG 15 for Life on Land, SDG 16 for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17 for Partnerships for the Goals. DSSC uses its partnerships to help develop programs which address community needs while building environmentally friendly and socially responsible methods throughout the entire province.
