The Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) through the Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO), upheld its mission for sustainable community engagement through the Crafting of the DSSC Sustainable Extension Framework on March 6, 2026, at Arnaldo’s Hotel and Restaurant for its 1st Session, and on March 13, 2026 at the DSSC Boardroom for its 2nd Session of the workshop.
The activity was enriched by the valuable insights coming from two esteemed resource speakers, namely, Dr. Alexander M. Campaner, Assistant to the President on Special Projects, and Dr. Clara A. Acebes, Supervising Administrative Officer of the College, who focused on sharing their expertise on strategic extension planning, sustainability framework, and outcome-based community engagement.
During the session, the ECSO presented the current landscape of the College’s extension initiatives in addressing key development areas such as in the fields of agriculture, education, community resilience, livelihood development, environmental sustainability, and inclusive governance. Reflecting DSSC’s continuing efforts to respond to the diverse needs of the community.
In line with the development of the DSSC Sustainable Extension Framework, DSSC continues to widen the horizon for more extension programs that are effective, relevant, responsive, and sustainable. The framework acts as a guide for DSSC in scaling up its initiatives when it comes to implementing impactful programs and innovation for the community.
The Deans, Extension Coordinators, Program and Project Leaders, and key personnel coming from the various colleges and from other campuses collaborated together during the activity to reflect, plan, and strategize the alignment of the extension initiatives with the DSSC’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives (VMGO) along with the global sustainability principles.
The successful conduct of the activity was made possible through the guidance and full support of the College President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, whose leadership continues to guide the college towards becoming an institution committed to exemplifying the values of excellence and stewardship, especially its relationship with the environment and the community.
The Director of the Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO), Dr. Queenie Lyn G. Almerez, took an important step in leading the institution’s extension initiatives towards a more fruitful platform in delivering a more committed and sustainable relationship with the community.
Moreover, the initiative underscores DSSC’s role as a proactive partner in local and regional development and in promoting a more sustainable community by exemplifying SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, proving the College’s undying commitment in leaning towards a more sustainable community.
