Davao del Sur State College recently signed formal partnerships with FarmTech Agriland and the Bagobo Tagabawa Fair Trade Marketing (BATAFAMA) Cooperative through separate Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at advancing regenerative agriculture, smart farming technologies, and sustainable coffee production initiatives in Davao del Sur. The agreements were signed on May 15, 2026, at the DSSC Regional Coffee Innovation Center and Museum.
This partnership will support the implementation of the program “Regenerative Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence in Scaling-up Key Commodity Crops in Davao del Sur,” which promotes innovation driven agricultural development through the convergence of the academe, industry, and community sectors.
Under the agreements, the partner institutions shall commit to scale up coffee production through regenerative agriculture and artificial intelligence driven technologies, digitize coffee production area using smart agriculture tools and data driven systems, establish techno demo and learning sites for coffee production and innovation, and strengthen farmer organizations and market linkages through next generation cooperatives and sustainable systems.
DSSC was represented by DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, alongside Program Leader Dr. Alexandre M. Campaner, and Director for Extension and Services Relations Dr. Queenie Lyn G. Almerez, FarmTech Agriland Corporation was represented by Chief Executive Officer Dominador L. Subang and his team, while BATAFAMA Cooperative was represented by Cooperation Chairperson John C. Pajo, Cooperative Manager Christine E. Fernandez, and other project stakeholders.
