Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) through its International Affairs and Relations Office (IARO) successfully conducted a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Re-Echo and Capacity Building Session on July 31, 2026 at the DSSC Mini Theatre.
With the aim to strengthen faculty readiness to integrate international and intercultural learning experiences into instruction, the activity re-echoed recent updates on emerging practices, innovative approaches, and effective strategies in the implementation of COIL. This provided participating faculty members with relevant insights on how virtual collaboration can be utilized to create meaningful global learning opportunities for students.
The activity also deepened the participants’ understanding of the COIL implementation, exploring new strategies for developing collaborative learning experiences with partner institutions from international setups. Through virtual academic engagement, COIL provides opportunities for students to interact with peers and educators from across cultural and geographical boundaries while remaining within their respective learning environments. This also encourages faculty participation in future COIL projects and strengthens their capacity to incorporate global and intercultural perspectives into their courses and academic programs.
This activity supports the College’s efforts in advancing internationalization, at the same time empowering students and faculty members alike to explore innovative approaches to learning and teaching while building international linkages. This aligns with various Sustainable Development Goals particularly, SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
