Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through its Human Resource Office and in partnership with the Social Security System (SSS), conducted an orientation for employees under Contract of Service (COS) on June 22, 2026, at the DSSC Gymnasium.
The activity was attended by Contract of Service (COS) administrative personnel and staff from various departments of the college. It aimed to increase awareness and understanding of SSS coverage, contribution, benefits, and programs available to workers in the informal sector.
The orientation was facilitated by Raymond G. Pumbo, Junior Member Service Representative (MSR), together with Mr. Wilfred Sumalinog, Senior MSR, from the SSS Office.
Topics discussed during the orientation included SSS coverage and contributions, SSS benefits such as death and funeral benefits, and pension programs for retirees, including the 10% pension increase implemented over three years from 2025 to 2027.
The speaker also introduced the SSS pension booster, a voluntary savings program that allows members to earn dividends on their contributions. Other programs presented were short-term loan offerings, including calamity loans, emergency loans, educational loans, pension loans, and consolidated loan programs.
In addition, participants were oriented to the use of the SSS mobile application and the My SSS card, which provide convenient access to SSS services and member information. The activity concluded with an open forum where participants were able to raise questions and seek clarification regarding SSS membership, benefits, and services.
The orientation supports the college’s commitment to promoting employee welfare, financial awareness, and inclusive social protection. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1:No Poverty, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10:Reduced Inequalities through strengthening social security support, worker welfare, financial stability, and inclusive access to government services and benefits.
