DSSC Participates in Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) is participating in the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026, organized by Times Higher Education from June 22 to 26 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The congress brings together higher education leaders, researchers, policymakers, and development partners from around the world to discuss the role of universities and colleges in addressing global challenges through education, research, innovation, and community engagement.

Representing the College are President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes and International Affairs and Relations Office Director Dr. Ana Marie J. Matalines. Their participation provides opportunities to engage with institutions across different countries and exchange views on sustainability, internationalization, and the development of higher education in general.

One of the highlights of the congress is the presentation of the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. In its first appearance in the global assessment, DSSC is placed within the 1001–1500 bracket among 1,603 participating universities worldwide.

The result reflects the College’s continuing endeavors to keep its programs, projects, and initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, while also strengthening its involvement in international academic and development networks.

The congress also serves as a meeting ground for cooperation among different institutions, working to address issues related to education, climate action, innovation, social inclusion, and sustainable development, all in the context of research and public service.

By taking part, DSSC keeps widening its international footprint while shaping conversations on the role of higher education in forming sustainable and responsive communities.

The activity supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through engagement in global discussions on educational development and institutional improvement. It also supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange among higher education institutions, governments, and development organizations working toward shared sustainability objectives.
