DSSC participates in China Academic and Cultural Student Mobility Program

Davao del Sur State College joined Sias University’s week-long China Academic and Cultural Student Mobility Program at Sias University Zhengzhou, Henan, China, held last May 25-30, 2026.

The program provided participants with opportunities for cross-cultural learning, academic exchange, and global leadership development. DSSC was represented by Amadeo Uy from the College of Teacher’s Education – Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English; and Nathan Jay T. Mercado from the College of Business Education and Governance – Bachelor of Science in Public Administration; and was supervised by Instr. Roy R. Molina, MPA.

Official Student delegates actively engaged in various academic and cultural activities where they immersed themselves in Chinese History, traditions, and contemporary society, allowing them to gain deeper appreciation of China’s rich cultural heritage. Through guided tours, cultural exposure activities, and academic engagements, students were able to develop broader understanding of global perspectives and intercultural communication.

One of the program’s highlights was the conference on emerging development on Artificial Intelligence (AI), where different sessions introduced participants to innovative research, technological advancements, and their implications for governance, public administration, and sustainable development, in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

A leadership lecture was also delivered by Instr. Molina, who shared his stand on the importance of governance in fostering international cooperation. His discussion centered on Philippine-China relationship, including the historical development, diplomatic ties, and relevance in contemporary governance. He also discussed the historical relationship of Chinese-Filipino in cultural exchange, migration, and the long standing contribution of the Chinese-Filipino community to Philippine society and nation building.

Through the integration of academic learning with cultural immersion, DSSC encourages its students to reflect on their roles as future leaders and public servants. This move supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 for Quality Education; SDG 9 for Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; SDG 16 for Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions; and SDG 17 for Partnerships for the Goals.
