DSSC Brings Together Global Voices in Celebration of the International Women’s Month

The Davao del Sur State College International Affairs and Relations Office in collaboration with the Gender and Development Office successfully conducted an online celebration of the International Women’s Month titled “Leading Like Babaylans: Feminist Indigenous Leadership in a Globalized World” held at the college auditorium on March 31, 2026.

The event focused on Gender Justice, indigenous feminism, peace building, inclusive leadership, global solidarity and sustainable transformation. Distinguished speakers from across the globe shared their knowledge and wisdom with participants at Davao del Sur State College.

A showcase of platform speakers who graced the online event include Dr. Betsy Eudey of California State University, USA talking on women leadership through spiritual intelligence and emotional wisdom grounded in gender justice; Dr. Michelle A. Alcebar of Davao del Sur State College reflecting on the healer, peacebuilder, and policy influencer roles of women; Dr. Trias Setiawati of Universitas Islam Indonesia reflecting on transformative leadership and inclusive change beyond borders; and Hon. Aleya Necole Nayona, President of the Supreme Student Council of Davao del Sur State College talking on Reclaiming the Indigenous Feminist Leadership in the 21st century; and Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ninh of Phenikaa University on harnessing women’s leadership towards building sustainable and equitable societies.

The program started with the opening remarks by Instr. Jarsey Krim A. Taub of the International Affairs and Relations Office on behalf of the Director of the International Affairs and Relations Office, Dr. Ana Marie J. Matalines. The College President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes then shared a special message highlighting the significance of women leadership, compassion, and partnerships globally in forming an inclusive society. Instr. Nida C. Belono-ac, the GAD Alternate, introduced the speakers while the GAD Focal Person, Instr. Cecile C. Lofranco ended the program with a heartwarming closing remark.

The successful event was a testament to DSSC’s ongoing commitment to empowering, inclusive leadership, and global solidarity. The event also supports SDGs 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
