DSSC IZN Team Completes CHED-CBIE Internationalization Training

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) was among 30 higher education institutions selected from over 100 applicants nationwide to take part in the Commission on Higher Education–Canadian Bureau for International Education (CHED–CBIE) Internationalization Project, conducted from February to March 2026.

The International Affairs and Relations Office, led by Dr. Ana Marie J. Matalines, completed the program together with Instr. Jarsey Krim A. Taub, and Ms. Cydeah Aldic Conchas. Dr. Matalines joined the senior leader track and attended the face-to-face training in Manila. Instr. Taub and Ms. Conchas completed the beginner track through a month-long online training.

The program, “Leading Internationalization: Strengthening Institutional Capacity and Canada–Philippines Linkages,” was organized by the Commission on Higher Education in partnership with the Canadian Bureau for International Education, with support from the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada. It focused on helping institutions strengthen their systems and build academic connections with partner institutions abroad.

The training was held in two parts. The online sessions ran from February 9 to 27, 2026, and included the development of a capstone project. This was followed by a face-to-face leadership training from March 2 to 6, 2026.

Through this experience, DSSC continues to build its efforts in internationalization and open more opportunities for collaboration, faculty development, and student engagement. It also contributes to broader goals such as improving the quality of education, widening access to opportunities, strengthening institutions, and building partnerships, in line with Sustainable Development Goals 4, 10, 16, and 17.
