Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) through its College of Teacher Education (CTEd) was recognized for its exemplary performance in the September 2025 and March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT), during the Learning and Development Forum cum General Assembly 2026 on September 15 at Sunny Point Hotel, Maa, Davao City.
The Association of Region XI Teacher Education Institutions (ARTEI XI) acknowledged DSSC for its excellence in teacher education programs and quality instruction, covering both the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) programs.
During the September 2025 LEPT, the BSEd program achieved a 92.22 percent passing rate in the category for institutions with 201 to 300 examinees. Meanwhile, its BEEd program also recorded a 90 percent passing rate among institutions with 1 to 25 examinees.
Further, DSSC sustained its strong performance in the March 2026 LEPT and garnered a 97.56 percent passing rate in the 51 to 100 examinee category, while its BEEd program achieved a 100 percent passing rate among institutions with 1 to 25 examinees.
Anchored on the theme, “Navigating Future Pathways in Teacher Education: Curriculum Reframing and Micro-credentialing,” the ARTEI XI presented the recognitions during the forum.
Among the participants were Prof. Mary Lisley Jane R. Layson, BSEd Mathematics Program Coordinator; Prof.Leslie C. Elevado, BSEd Filipino Program Coordinator; Prof. Steve T. Corsino, BSEd English Program Coordinator; Prof. Chris Jake D. Codilla, BSEd Science Program Coordinator; Dr. Ryan Dela Cruz, BSEd Social Studies Program Coordinator; Prof. Evangeline D. Pagal, BEEd Program Chairperson; Prof. MayFlor D. Huera, BTLEd Program Chairperson; and Prof. Elvie Jane R. Amion, Internship Coordinator.
The eight faculty members joined the professional learning activity as part of CTEd’s continuing efforts to strengthen its teacher education programs. Through the forum, they gained opportunities to enhance their professional competencies, improve instructional practices, and learn relevant approaches and practices in teacher education.
Also, the gathering allowed the CTEd faculty to connect with fellow teacher educators from across Region XI and take part in discussions on emerging directions in the field, particularly in curriculum development and micro-credentialing.
Lastly, this recognition reflects DSSC’s continuing commitment to SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the delivery of quality teacher education and the development of competent future educators. The participation in the said forum also supports SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals) strengthening collaboration and knowledge-sharing among teacher education institutions in Region XI toward advancing responsive and future-ready education.
