Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through its Sports Development Office, has served as the host for the Professional Pickleball Association of the Philippines (PRO-PPA) Level 1 Match Official training and assessment, held on August 14-15, 2026, at the DSSC Mini Theatre.
The two day event has gathered a network of aspiring referees with the goal to help elevate the standard in pickleball competition. It presented technical discussion on pickleball rules, match procedures, and officiating responsibilities, followed by a practical assessment designed to evaluate their application of the concepts in the actual game situations.
As the host institution, DSSC provided the venue and logistical support necessary for the conduct of the training assessment, helping facilitate the conduct of the activity and the development of sports officiating skills among its personnel and participants. It also resulted in the certification of five DSSC personnel as PRO-PPA Level 1 Match Officials.
This certification was completed alongside the conduct of the first PRO-PPA Pickleball Tournament, where participants were given the opportunity to apply the principles and procedures discussed during the training through an actual match officiating.
The training and assessment were organized by PRO-PPA under the leadership of PPA President Mr. Manuel C. Paster Jr., with DSSC serving as the host institution for the activity, supporting the various Sustainable Development Goals particularly, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), , and SDG 17 ( Partnerships for the Goals).
