Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) through its International Affairs and Relations Office (IARO) joined the Canada-Philippines Higher Education Program at The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila, on March 2-6, 2026.
DSSC represented Region XI as one of only two colleges from the region selected to participate. It was also among the seven institutions from Mindanao and part of the 30 higher education institutions nationwide chosen for the program.
IARO Director Dr. Ana Marie J. Matalines has attended the sessions in person while IARO personnel Instr. Jersey Krim Taub and Cydeah Aldic Conchas ensured full involvement through virtual participation.
The event was organized by the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) International Affairs Service in partnership with the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), with the support of the Embassy of Canada to the Philippines and the Alberta Bureau for International Education (ABIE). The event included the Building Bridges in Higher Education: Canada-Philippines Partnership Forum and a four-day training titled Leading Internationalization: Strengthening Institutional Capacity and Canada-Philippines Linkages Phase 2.
DSSC’s participation supports the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals particularly the SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening the college’s institutional capacity for internationalization, focused on strategic leadership, partnership development, risk management, and integration of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles.
