



Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) recently joined the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement hosted by the National Nutrition Council XI in collaboration with partners from Academe, Business, Civil Society, and Youth Sectors. DSSC joined the SUN Movement Strategic Meeting and Business Conference last May 21, 2026, at the Ritz Hotel Harden Oases, Davao City.
DSSCs Wellness Technology, Health and Care (WellTechCare) Research Center Head Instr Jerome Ferdinand O. Balaga presented the college’s nutrition-sensitive initiatives as one of the key components of health research and extension projects, as well as in instruction for the Physical Activity Towards Health and Fitness (PATHFit) courses.
The conference featured the importance of nutrition as a fundamental pillar of human development, and that collective action through multistakeholder engagement will enhance advocacy in achieving improved nutrition outcomes in the region.
The college’s dedication to advancing health-related research contributes to public health and well-being, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 2 for Zero Hunger, SDG 3 for Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 for Quality Education, and SDG 17 for Partnerships for the Goals.
