Davao del Sur State College was formally welcomed as a member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Philippines on October 6, 2026, during a roadshow held at Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) titled Accelerating SDG Localization in Mindanao: University Partnerships, Innovation, and Collective Action.
DSSC joined the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) and AdDU as Mindanao members of the SDSN Philippines network. The roadshow brought together representatives from universities, local government units, government agencies, development organizations, civil society, and youth groups to work through how academic institutions can help bring the Sustainable Development Goals closer to the communities they serve.
Sessions covered the role of universities as drivers of SDG localization and models for innovative partnership, drawing on the experience of institutions already doing that work on the ground.
College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes delivered the Roadshow Statement on behalf of DSSC. She was direct about what comes next. “Together with SDSN and its partners, DSSC will consolidate the recommendations and commitments generated by the roadshow and identify priority initiatives that can be developed into collaborative projects.” She also pointed to what the network needs beyond the event itself. “Partners of SDSN will continue to work on establishing a continuing Mindanao platform for universities, LGUs, and stakeholders’ cooperation, including regular knowledge sharing and mechanisms for mobilizing technical expertise and resources.”
For DSSC, the membership opens a wider table. It gives the college a structured connection to institutions and organizations working on the same development concerns, and a channel for turning that connection into something concrete for Mindanao.
The activity supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the college’s engagement in knowledge-sharing and university partnerships for development, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by addressing localized development gaps through collective action, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through DSSC’s formal membership in a global network committed to translating the SDGs into meaningful community-level action.
