DSSC Monday Convocation highlights Conviction and Community Extension Achievements

Davao del Sur State College held its regular Monday Convocation on July 27, 2026, at the college gymnasium, with faculty, staff, and personnel gathering for institutional updates and a values reflection organized by the Extension and Community Services Office.

Prof. Rhea Mae L. Perito, Program Head of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, delivered the values restoration. This week’s value focus was conviction. She told the audience it is not enough to know what is right. Conviction, she said, is what holds when pressure to do otherwise is real and the cost of doing right is not small. She asked everyone present to recall moments when their beliefs were tested and to bring those honestly to God in prayer, seeking guidance and correction.

Dr. Queenie Lyn G. Almerez, Director of the Extension and Community Services Office, reported on the office’s work across Davao del Sur: community service projects, international recognition, and volunteering activities that involved students, faculty, and staff, promoting active community engagement.

Dr. Siverlyn M. Camposano, Vice President for Academic Affairs, addressed the audience on academic program updates, teachers’ reclassification, and institutional developments.

College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes closed the program, thanking the college community for its work in public service and education. “Let conviction lead us, integrity strengthen us, and excellence inspire us as we continue our shared mission of quality education and public service.” she said. She urged everyone to carry conviction into their daily duties, not as an ideal but as a working habit.

The convocation supported SDG 4 (Quality Education) through its emphasis on values formation in institutional life, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by calling the college community toward integrity and accountability in public service.
