Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) officials and representatives, headed by the College President, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, participated in the two-day seminar-workshop organized by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and PASUC-XI on February 23–24, 2026, held at the World Palace Hotel in Davao City.
The activity aimed to strengthen research capabilities and improve the performance of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in global university rankings. Discussions covered scientific publishing, research culture development, internationalization strategies, manuscript preparation, bibliometric analysis, and the use of generative AI in research writing.
Representing DSSC was College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, alongside other SUC presidents in the region, including Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa of Davao del Norte State College, who also serves as PASUC President; Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay of Davao de Oro State College; Dr. Lynette A. Bontia of Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology; and Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. of University of Southeastern Philippines.
Resource speakers included Dr. Eliseo L. Prisno III, Chief Scientific Officer of GHF University Excellence, together with its National Program Manager Jerico B. Ogaya and Deputy National Program Manager Christian Joseph N. Ong.
The workshop provided practical guidance on increasing research productivity, publishing in Scopus-indexed journals, improving global visibility, and strengthening research impact. DSSC’s participation supports its commitment to quality education and research excellence aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Through this initiative, DSSC continues to strengthen its research programs and institutional partnerships in support of globally competitive and socially responsive higher education.
