DSSC Sulop Ext. Campus Conducts Research on Agricultural Involvement of Rural Youth

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) Sulop Extension Campus conducted a research activity documenting the involvement and participation of youth in agricultural activities in selected upland rural barangays of Sulop, Davao del Sur, on July 24 and 30, 2026.

Led by Project Leader, Instr. Anareystel Lape, together with her co-faculty members, Prof. Cecile Lofranco, Instr. Dixon John Roble, and Instr. Lou Daneille Lofranco, conducted the assessment in selected barangays of New Cebu, Carre, Luparan, Laperas, Clib, Buguis, Labon, Litos, Osmeña, and Parami.

The activity was carried out in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sulop, through the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), who endorsed the participating youth of Sulop.

The assessment focused on determining the extent of youth participation in agriculture, the types of agricultural activities they engage in, their roles and contributions to farming and other related livelihood activities, as well as the challenges, needs, interests, and opportunities that influence their continued involvement in the agricultural sector.

The research activity contributed to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
