Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) is working on securing a new broadcast affiliation following the expiration of its previous affiliation with SKIA Broadcasting Center.
Nelson Cañete, JD, Director of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Region XI, paid a surprise visit to the College during his trip to Digos City. The visit led to discussions on the process and requirements for securing a new affiliation for DSSC’s broadcast operations.
Cañete also guided the College on the necessary steps to ensure that its next broadcast affiliation complies with the required legal and regulatory processes.
DSSC currently has no new broadcast partner yet, although discussions with a prospective partner are already underway.
Meanwhile, the College continues its digital broadcast operations, carrying 13 programs that serve various sectors of the community.
The broadcast platform also serves as one of the laboratories for Development Communication and supports the College’s Extension Communication activities. It also functions as a training facility and OJT center for students.
The ongoing effort to secure a new affiliation is intended to allow DSSC to sustain its broadcast operations while continuing to provide students with opportunities for hands-on training in broadcasting and communication.
