Reverse Pitching Connects MSMEs Innovators

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI)-Davao del Sur Innovation Hub, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Davao del Sur, conducted the Reverse Pitching for Sustainable MSMEs on April 29, 2026, at the DSSC Mini Theatre.

With the theme “Innovate, Sustain, and Grow,” the activity was attended by various Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Local Government Units (LGUs), student Innovators, and faculty members.

The program was opened by DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, who extended her thanks to the participants and stressed the value of partnerships in addressing real-world challenges and promoting inclusive development through innovation.

It was followed by the presentation of the Overview of the Davao del Sur Innovation Hub, presented by Provincial Science and Technology Director Leslie Pearl M. Cancio-Dy, discussing the role of the hub in supporting local enterprises, research-based solutions, and the province’s innovation ecosystem.

Participating MSMEs included Mira’s Food Trading, Woodworks Collection, Inc., Maru Farm Development Corporation, Jeremiah Cakes and Food Services, and BATAFAM Cooperative. Student Innovators and faculty mentors from the College of Business Education and Governance (CBEG), College of Information and Digital Sciences (CIDS), College of Engineering Technology (CET), and College of Agriculture and Related Sciences (CARS) also took part, absorbing the discussed interdisciplinary approach to problem solving.

The main part of the activity featured the reverse pitching session, where MSMEs presented their operational challenges and development needs to students, researchers, and innovators, allowing the participants to directly respond with practical and research-based solutions.

An open forum followed in the afternoon, providing a space for discussion, clarification, and potential collaboration among stakeholders.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Regional Coffee Innovation Center (RCIC) Director Dr. Regie D. Patagoc, who gave focus to the need to sustain partnership and turn ideas into actionable solutions for communities and industries.

This activity shows DSSC consistent support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 for Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 9 for Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
