Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through the College of Business Education and Governance (CBEG) – Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) program, recently conducted an extension project titled “Empowering Indigenous Cultural Communities: Strengthening Leadership and Governance from the Ground Up” on May 8, 2026, at the Poblacion Tribal Hall, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
The local Blaan Indigenous Community joined the activity, particularly women leaders. They joined the discussions on sustainable development, cultural preservation, and resilient livelihood strategies. The lecture focused on environmental stewardship, climate-smart agriculture, and the preservation of traditional weaving and beadwork as important cultural assets of the community.
The lecture also included the value of indigenous knowledge, women’s leadership, financial literacy, and collective action in building stronger and sustainable livelihoods while protecting ancestral lands and preserving cultural identity.
The activity was facilitated by the DSSC-BPA department, led by Instr. Roy B. Molina, MPA, alongside other BPA faculty members and BPA volunteer students. An initiative that continues to show the college’s commitment to inclusive governance and culturally responsive development, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 for Quality Education, SDG 5 for Gender Equality, SDG 10 for Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16 for Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
