OPLAN CARE Brings Hope to Earthquake-Hit Communities in Sarangani

In times of crisis, compassion becomes a shared responsibility. Demonstrating this commitment, Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), in partnership with the University of Mindanao Bansalan, University of Mindanao Main, University of Mindanao Tagum, and the Philippine Army, successfully launched OPLAN CARE: Crisis Assistance Relief Emergency on June 20, 2026, in Glan, Sarangani Province.

Raising up to Php 28,774 in cash donations, the money was used to purchase relief essentials, alongside in-kind contributions such as used clothing, kitchen wares, sanitary pads, and sleeping mats. The relief mobilized faculty, staff, and students to extend assistance to families affected by the recent earthquake in the locality.

A total of 118 relief packs, each containing rice, canned goods, biscuits, noodles, and bottled water, were distributed to families in Purok Daculyel and Purok Baybayon, of Brgy. Small Margus.

More than the relief goods delivered, this initiative reflects the power of collective action and solidarity, upholding DSSC’s commitment to serving communities beyond the campus and contributing to different Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty); SDG 2 (Zero Hunger); SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being); and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
