In line with the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary and the institution’s commitment to impactful public service, Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through its Extension Office, facilitated a series of extension activities under the “Lingkod Bayani: DSSC Extension in Action“ on September 25, 2026.
As part of the initiative, the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) conducted a Bamboo Laser Printing Training for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Digos City District.
Dr. Eric Del Rosario, Program Head for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, facilitated the training, providing participants with practical and marketable skills that can provide opportunities for livelihood and income generation through bamboo laser printing.
On the other hand, the Institute of Graduate and Professional Education (IGPE) successfully extended a Research Methods Workshop for Alternative Learning System (ALS) teachers in Digos City.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the research knowledge and skills of ALS teachers, equipping them with the foundational competencies needed to develop research studies and utilize evidence-based approaches in addressing challenges in education.
Through these initiatives, the DSSC demonstrates that public service extends beyond institutional duties and includes reaching communities, empowering individuals, and creating opportunities for empowerment. These activities embody the spirit of Lingkod Bayani and the institution’s continuing commitment to service with purpose and impact.
The Bamboo Laser Printing Training contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. Meanwhile, the Research Methods Workshop supports SDG 4:Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
