Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) gathered its employees for the two-day celebration, marking the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) on September 28-29 at Elai Resort Hotel and Recreational Center, highlighting the values of dedicated and meaningful public service.
Themed “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the celebration brought together DSSC employees for a series of recognition activities, sports competitions, and a fellowship night aimed at strengthening camaraderie and reaffirming their commitment as public servants.
The celebration was graced by Ronnie A. Bardoquillo, Senior Human Resource Specialist of the Civil Service Commission Regional Office XI, who expressed appreciation to the DSSC community for taking part in the anniversary celebration and encouraged employees to remain committed to their responsibilities as public servants.
In her message, DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes emphasized that meaningful public service is not always measured by highly visible accomplishments but can also be reflected in the everyday contributions of employees who faithfully perform their responsibilities.
Dr. Fuentes highlighted the three values that should characterize the work of every public servant: “Puso sa Serbisyo, Dangal sa Tungkulin, and Galing sa Paglilingkod.”
She also recognized the College’s accomplishments as products of collective efforts and contributions of its employees, emphasizing that each member of the institution plays a role.
The morning program also recognized employees through the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) and honored researchers whose scholarly works were published. In the afternoon, employees representing four teams competed in simultaneous pickleball, volleyball, and basketball events
The first day concluded with a Solidarity Night where employees donned airport-themed outfits. Live entertainment and other fellowship activities capped the evening celebration.
Following the series of competitions and activities, Flowing Aqua emerged as overall champion with 370 points, Whirling Ventus recorded 340 points, followed by Verdant Terra with 330 points, and Blazing Ignis with 310 points.
The two-day celebration culminated on September 29 with the closing and awarding ceremonies, reaffirming DSSC’s commitment to public service.
