DSSC Highlights Faith and Updates in Monday Convocation

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), sponsored by the Quality Assurance (QA) Office, facilitated the last Monday Convocation for April on April 27, 2026, at the DSSC Gymnasium. The activity centered on ‘Faith’ as the value focus of the week, alongside recognitions and institutional updates.

Mitzi Darryl Baba from the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences (CARS) led the values restoration segment, exploring faith as the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance we hold even when answers are not visible. The segment encouraged the community to remain grounded in faith despite the uncertainties of reality.

It was followed by the sponsor office’s update presented by QA Director Roayda S. Hasim, who highlighted the preparation for the upcoming AACUP visit across various programs throughout the year. She also reported on the preparation for the recertification on the ISO 9001:2015, including the one-week preparation period to address possible non-conformances.

Instr. Christine May Mangubat from the Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) announced the conduct of student elections today, and encouraged faculty members to allow their students to cast their votes. It was followed by an awarding of certificates for students who passed different levels of the college’s Digitally-Enabled English Proficiency (DEEP) program, a platform focused on English proficiency aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standards.

In her message, DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes reminded the community that despite difficulties and challenges, everyone is encouraged to stay grounded in their faith.

She also presented highlights from the recent Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting, including the approval of budget allocation for the retrofitting of the 2019 quake-damaged building, and the forthcoming partnership with Pag-IBIG Fund for the planned employee and student housing through a Memorandum of Agreement, the approved splitting of the College of Computer Engineering and Technology (CCET) into two colleges, approval of Research, Development and Extension (RDE) agenda for 2026-2030, the participation of the 11th batch of SEA Teacher and the approval of four new academic programs were also noted.

It was followed by a short blessing ceremony for the two new vehicles, acquired by the college, intended to support and improve institutional travel and transportation.

Through regular Monday Convocation, DSSC continues to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 for Quality Education.
