Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) formally commenced the development of a new academic facility for the College of Business Education and Governance (CBEG) on February 20, 2026. The groundbreaking activity took place late Friday afternoon at the institution’s expansion site across the river, an area identified for long-term campus growth.
The planned structure, a three-storey building under the first phase of a two-part project, is intended to respond to increasing academic demands within CBEG. Over the past years, program expansion and student enrollment have steadily required additional space for instruction, consultation, and administrative functions. The new complex is expected to ease these pressures and create a more orderly learning environment.
College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes addressed those present and spoke about responsible campus development. She emphasized that infrastructure projects must be guided by practical need and careful planning. According to her the College strives to upgrade its physical facilities to sustain its academic program standards.
With the ceremonial turning of soil, the ceremony concluded formally signaling the beginning of construction work. Though brief, the activity marked a concrete step in the College’s ongoing campus development efforts.
The project contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education by improving access to adequate learning facilities, and to Sustainable Development Goal 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through sustained institutional investment in academic spaces.
