Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) conducted its regular Monday Convocation, hosted by the General Services Office (GSO), on March 2, 2026. Students, faculty members, and staff gathered for the assembly.
The week’s value focus is centered on the word ‘Obedience.’ A guiding principle reminding the college community of the importance of discipline and respect in daily actions. The GSO also provided updates relevant to campus operations and services that their office has accomplished.
DSSC President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes began her message with a prayer for the people who are affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. She then reflected on the successful conduct of the College’s 7th Founding Anniversary, acknowledging the efforts of the committees and event heads who successfully led various activities in and out of campus. She expressed her appreciation for the collective effort of the community, big and small, in ensuring the smooth implementation of the celebration.
Recalling the two-day seminar-workshop with PASUC XI, Dr. Fuentes said she looks forward to seeing more Scopus-indexed research coming from the College in the coming years. She noted that producing publishable studies requires time, discipline, and collaboration, and she encouraged faculty members to take the challenge together so the College can gradually build a stronger and more respected research culture.
The convocation also served as a venue for the formal proclamation of the launching of the National Women’s Month, where Dr. Fuentes emphasized, “Obedience guides our actions; women’s courage guides our future”. Faculty members and admin staff had on purple attire to signify solidarity and support for women’s empowerment.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the activity reaffirmed the College’s commitment to Quality Education (SDG 4) through research and academic excellence, Gender Equality (SDG 5) through the promotion of women’s leadership and empowerment, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16) through its call for unity, discipline, and collective responsibility.
