Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), through the International Affairs and Relations Office (IARO), joined the International Community Outreach Program: Value Chain and Circular Business Enhancement of Indonesia’s Local Agricultural Products on June 21-July 1, 2026, in Surabaya, Indonesia.
Hosted by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, the 10-day international program was attended by faculty members and students from various countries, including the Philippines, strengthening collaboration opportunities and promoting knowledge exchange on sustainable agribusiness practices, value chain development, and circular business models. The program included a series of lectures, academic discussions, institutional engagements, and community immersion activities, designed to enhance participants’ understanding of agricultural value chains in different global contexts.
Representing DSSC was the College of Business Education and Governance (CBEG) – Agribusiness Program faculty member Aljun S. Nilo, MBA. Nilo also served as one of the resource speakers during the lecture sessions, presenting his discussions on “Value Chain and Developing Countries” and “Product Pricing Strategy.” He talked about the comparative perspectives on the agricultural value chain and practical pricing approaches that contribute to improving the competitiveness and sustainability of local agricultural products. He also served as one of the evaluators during the culmination day, sharing his expertise in the field.
Davao del Sur State College was also introduced to the faculty and students of Universitas Pesantren Tinggi Darul ‘Ulum in Jombang, Indonesia, showcasing the college’s academic programs while building international linkages and exploring potential areas for future academic collaborations.
The program also included community immersion activities in Wonosalam and Kedire, Indonesia, where participants visited coffee farms, processing facilities, and small-scale banana and tofu enterprises. This allowed the participants to observe local production systems, value-adding practices, and circular business initiatives while engaging with the community stakeholders. They also visited an English school in Kediri to promote intercultural exchange and educational collaboration.
Through this participation, DSSC has supported various Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
