Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) joined State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from across Mindanao in the 3rd Workshop on Universities’ Internal Quality Assurance Implementation in the Philippines, held on September 15 to 17, 2026, at Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City.
The workshop was jointly conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN), SEAMEO Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO-RIHED), and ASEAN University Network (AUN). It used the AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit as its working framework.
The three-day activity focused on strengthening internal quality assurance (IQA) systems and improving management practices that university leaders and administrators can apply in their respective institutions.
Representing DSSC were Dr. Zandro P. Ibañez, Dr. Amelie E. Trinidad, Dr. Cherry Ann P. Roxas, Dr. Queenie Lyn G. Almerez, Eric E. Rellon, DBA, Roayda S. Hasim, MIT, Rosedilla L. Janson, MLIS, and Nashrin Mae D. Cudales, MAEd.
Sessions discussed the integration of IQA into institutional governance and day-to-day operations, the use of data to support institutional decision-making, and the role of quality assurance systems in responding to digitalization, internationalization, and changing labor market demands.
The workshop also introduced cluster-based Quality Summit Circles as a mechanism for continuing knowledge sharing and mentorship among participating institutions.
DSSC’s participation contributes to its continuing efforts to strengthen its internal quality assurance systems and promote a culture of continuous improvement in higher education. The activity also supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration with fellow SUCs and international quality assurance organizations.
