Davao del Sur State College received a visit from PeaceBuilders Community, Inc. (PBCI) on August 27, 2026, at the DSSC Regional Coffee Innovation Center, to discuss a learning engagement for a Canadian intern working with the organization.
PBCI, a faith-based peacebuilding and community development organization based in Davao City, brought the request to the college on behalf of Neil David Kauffman, who is currently serving his internship with the organization. The engagement seeks to place Kauffman inside a Philippine academic setting where he can join lectures, community activities, and discussions on culture, anthropology, and peacebuilding.
Dr. Sheruel G. Matalandang, Head of the Culture, Arts, and Humanities Research and Development Center, facilitated the visit after earlier contact with PBCI on possible areas of engagement at DSSC.
The meeting opened discussions on what that arrangement could look like within the college’s programs and schedule.
The visit supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through intercultural and experiential learning, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) through the college’s engagement with active peacebuilding work, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the developing relationship between DSSC and PeaceBuilders Community, Inc.
