Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) through its Legal Office, in collaboration with the Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC), successfully conducted a benchmarking activity on July 23, 2026 at Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Musuan, Maramag, Bukidnon.
The activity provided DSSC with the opportunity to learn from CMU’s established data privacy framework, governance practices, and digital transformation initiatives, and help strengthen the College’s Data Privacy Policy. Delegates from both institutions discussed institutional policies, procedures, and strategies that support compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), ensuring responsible collection, processing, storage, and preservation of personal information.
Among the key topics discussed were the registration process with the National Privacy Commission (NPC); the formulation and implementation of Confidentiality Agreements and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs); the conduct of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), including monitoring tools, templates, and evaluation techniques; the roles and responsibilities of the Data Privacy Officer (DPO) and the Personal Information Controller (PIC); the preparation of Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs); personal data breach management and reporting mechanisms; the designation of Data Privacy Compliance Representatives in each office; along with other relevant topics to support the continuous improvement of institutional data privacy measures.
While this activity shows DSSC’s commitment to continuous improvement in institutional policies and governance systems through the adoption of best practices, it also aligned with various Sustainable Development Goals particularly SDG 16 for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; and SDG 17 for Partnerships for the Goals.
